I am a person who is absolutely mesmerized and enchanted with Rajasthan – the intense colour of women’s saris against the brightly painted houses, the fluorescent plastic beads that adorn camels plodding feet, traffic jams of cars, camels and rickshaws, the mirror image of white palaces in blue water, the lattice windows framing the harsh glare of the desert sand, the echoing prayers from the loud speakers in a village temple, the welcoming people who live so differently to me, the thick black eyeliner applied to babies’ wide eyes… this is a unique place! So much inspiration for an artist!
I have been a visual arts educator for over 20 years. This includes high school art teacher, gallery and museum education officer and art education digital resource writer. It all began with a BA in art history followed by another in studio practice. Over the years I have added a Diploma in Education, Masters in Arts Administration and a Masters in Digital Media. Employers have included the Art Gallery of New South Wales, UK Biennial of Contemporary Art, Penrith Regional Gallery, Historic Houses Trust and the Centre for Learning Innovation.
In my own art practice, I enjoy variety especially in mixed media drawing and sculpture. I draw inspiration from my world of people, diversity of culture, colour, pattern and texture.
I am committed to art education and am now using this experience of working and communicating with people of all ages and backgrounds and great organization skills along with a sense of adventure and fun to creating art adventures in India.
I can't do this alone. I have an amazing partner who knows India backwards as he is Indian! He has been working with travel groups for over 20 years, speaks excellent English, is very particular about our clients' safety and well being, and is heaps of FUN! I also have a very experienced, patient and careful driver - he is invaluable!
Come and join us in an adventure that will inspire your art making, stimulate all your senses and live with you forever!
